Watch me create a portrait in this short video

A little bit about me

Me at age 5 riding 'Binky'
During my early married years we lived in a country town and
our house was situated on two acres of land which lent itself wonderfully to children’s ponies and all the other pets which make a family life complete. Now in my senior years with my grandchildren growing up too fast I spend much of every day with pencils in hand and even if I don’t have a commission to finish I draw just from sheer enjoyment and in the belief that practise makes perfect, or as near as I can make it.
You may be surprised to know that each portrait, done from a photo supplied by the owner, will take between 10 and 15 hours to complete, depending on size and then it is framed and ready for collection. I have also posted many interstate and a big collection of donkey drawings to the USA! Other portraits have gone to Canada and the UK.
Wherever these portraits end up, I feel privileged to be creating illustrations of animals that mean so much to so many people.
Best wishes - Ann
I have always loved animals and many have passed through my life, from my first pony Binky when I was aged 5, to my only remaining pet, a nutty 18 year old Siamese cat called Coco.
There have been many horses and ponies, lots of dogs, a
multitude of cats, pet lambs and sheep, geese, chickens and rabbits.
Sadly they don’t live forever and now that I reside in an apartment building and a single cat is all I am allowed, I have consoled myself with picking up coloured pencils and drawing many of those furry animals that have been mine and also those belonging to other people, particularly memorial portraits of treasured pets gone forever.
Horses have probably been the most important to me and for many years I rode competitively and taught professionally. I have represented my country twice in international dressage competitions and competed in many state and national events, often with mixed success but always with joy and happiness.
